I am conducting research to investigate ways to support students from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds to understand complex STEM concepts using interactive simulations and other digital technologies (e.g., intelligent tutoring systems, AI-supported pedagogical and teacheable agents, educational games).
Main research topics

  • Interactive simulations for learning complex systems concepts

  • AI-supported pedagogical and teachable agents

  • Self-regulated learning and learning analytics

  • Human-AI interaction in formal and informal learning settings

  • Human-centered participatory design

AlgeSPACE

  1. Co-designing an interactive system with teachers and researchers to reflect different needs and interests

  2. Using pedagogical agents with motivational prompts to promote engagement with optional tasks which foster problem-solving flexilbility

  3. Investigating learners' choice-making behaviors and patterns over time
